Pollution is a series in which I collapse my painting (several pieces from the series: Nido de Espectadores), with the photographic work of Susana Manjuri and Hannes Casper, which I find interesting for the simplicity and minimalism with which they understand the human figure, where the subjects seem to be on the verge of revealing something hidden that is never revealed, immersed in moments of pure sensory perception as when it is difficult to define something with words...
In these pieces I am interested in collapsing that softness of the figures and the pastel treatment of color, the emptiness of the themes, with the abstract surfaces of pure color and pure contrast of this series of paintings, where beyond the sense of painting itself as a process, or the figure of the same cube from different angles that is being represented; there is enough ambiguity to cause another form of abstraction, in which abstraction and figuration converge, mediated by the thought of the spectator.
I have superimposed a neon light on these elements to add an energy coefficient, a bolt of light that crosses out everything else or draws attention to it, giving the piece a “pritectic” and deconstructive character, which, in contrast to everything before, highlights the eroded forms of the photographic surfaces and the manual nature of the paint strokes in a sort of contamination of some forms of expression by others…
